How are the copyrights of the works we share projected?

All compositions, files and documents shared on Freeangle are protected by Creative Commons licenses. These licenses allow you to choose the level of protection of your work (giving credits to the author, limiting commercial use, authorising/non authorising derivative works, etc.).

About licenses
Protecting your works with a Creative Commons license does not mean that the works lose their copyright. To contrary, this is a means of exercising their copyright and being able to offer certain rights to third parties under specific conditions. What conditions This web site lets you choose or group the conditions in the following list. There is a total of six Creative Commons licenses to choose from

Attribution: The author must be given credits for any use of the work authorised under the license.
Noncommercial): The work may be used for noncommercial purposes only
No Derivative Works The authorisation to use the work does not include transformations to create derivative works
Share-alike The authorised use includes the creation of derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs the original work.

With these four conditions combined, you can generate six licenses to choose from:

Attribution (by): Any time of use of the work is permitted, including commercial, as is the creation of derivative works, which may also be distributed without restrictions.
Attribution + Noncommercial (by-nc) The creation of derivative works is permitted provided no commercial use is made of such derivative works. The original may not be used for commercial aims, either.
Attribution + Noncommercial + ShareAlike (by-nc-sa) Commercial use of the original work or derivative works is not permitted. A license must be obtained for the distribution of derivative works in the same manner as for the original work.
Attribution + Noncommercial + NoDerivatives (by-nc-nd): Commercial use of the original work and creation of derivative works thereof are not permitted.
Attribution + ShareAlike (by-sa): Commercial use of the original work or derivative works is permitted. A license must be obtained for the distribution of derivative works in the same manner as for the original work.
Attribution + NoDerivatives (by-nd) Commercial use of the original work is permitted, but not the creation of derivative works.

By uploading the work on Freeangle.org under a CC license, the work's credits are automatically given. This act alone is sufficient claim the moral rights of the work. Moral rights exist by right and are thus transferable, unlike economic rights, which are those assigned to management entities, such as Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE).

Although not essential, it is advisable to register the work with the Registre de la Propietat Intel·lectual ('Intellectual Property Register'), a public entity in the Culture Department (Conselleria de Cultura) of the Catalonian government (Generalitat), or with Save Creative, a private online company specialised in the registration of digital works. Unlike the Registre de la Propietat Intel·lectual, Save Creative is entirely free
